I just found out Ray Charles passed on today at the age of 71 due to liver complications. From the short bit I heard, he died peacefully in his home surrounded by loved ones. As someone who grew up on oldies, R&B, and Jazz, and as someone who has a visual impairment, I know I will miss Ray's wonderful music, but at least the legend can live on through all his recordings that are out there.

The industry lost a musical ledgind today, he will be missed, and his work should serve as an inspiration to those of us who are visually impaired who are thinking of or are in the recording industry. It just goes to show nothing is impossible if you set your mind to it, look at people like Jeff Healy, a totally blind guitar player, as well as country music singer Ronny Milsap who continues to sell millions, and then there's Stevie Wonder, not only is he a musical genius, he also is a producer. Anyway R.I.P Ray, you'll be missed.

I love his version of "America the Beautifu.l" and all the oldies stations around here were playing "Hit the Road Jack" a lot. He really was an inspiration and a truly innovative performer.
